Myristic acid (Myristic acid) alias: tetradecanoic acid, myristic acid, molecular formula: C₁₄H₂₈O₂, molecular weight: 228.37. Appearance: white to yellowish-white hard solid, occasionally shiny crystalline solid, or white to yellowish-white powder, odorless. Insoluble in water, soluble in anhydrous ethanol, methanol, ether, petroleum ether, benzene, chloroform and other organic solvents. Myristic acid can be used in the formulation of various food flavors, additives, and can also be used as a solvent for metalworking and flavoring. In the production of surfactants, myristic acid is one of the important raw materials, which can be used to produce sorbitan fatty acid esters, glycerol fatty acid esters, ethylene glycol or propylene glycol fatty acid esters, etc. Myristic acid can also be used in the production of defoamers, flavor enhancers, etc.
